Nairobi, KENYA: Sony Sugar head coach Salim Babu has been named the Fidelity Insurance sponsored Sports Journalists Association of Kenya SJAK Coach of the Month for May.
Babu who replaced Leonard Odipo at the helm in April, scooped the accolade after guiding Sony to three wins and a draw during the month of May.
The unbeaten run saw the Millers moved from relegation zone to ninth in the log on 19 points, same with eighth placed Western Stima who bank on superior goal difference.
To claim the gong, he garnered 17 points, two ahead of Gor Mahia’s Ze Maria while Paul Nkata came third during the votes conducted by a panel of SJKA on Tuesday.
To this effect Babu took a personalized trophy and a cash prize of Ksh Ksh. 50,000.

He becomes the fourth tactician after Mathare United’s Francis Kimanzi, Ivan Minnaert of AFC Leopards and Posta Rangers’ Zedekiah Otieno to be feted since the inception of the award in February.
