Mombasa, KENYA: Police are holding three suspects among them an ex-KDF officer in Mombasa for allegedly hijacking a container lorry, which was ferrying goods from the port to Bondeni at the city centre.
Regional Commander Francis Wanjohi on Saturday said the suspects diverted the lorry carrying 5000 containers and 25,000 boxes of spaghetti and were arrested at Bombolulu in a house where they were offloading the goods.
“The owner went to Bamburi police station to report and when the lorry was tracked it was discovered in Bombolulu; the officers acted swiftly and arrested the culprits,” said the police boss.
Meanwhile police are in hot pursuit of a red cross land cruiser vehicle suspected to have been hijacked along Mombasa- Malindi road.
A source from the police told Baraka FM that the vehicle which was ferrying medicine, might have allegedly been hijacked by Alshabaab living in the Boni forest.
