Lamu, KENYA:A seven year old class one pupil died and four others injured when a motorcycle they had boarded to school collided head on with an oncoming Lorry at Mkunumbi Junction in Lamu West.

The accident took place at around 6.30am Tuesday.

According to Mpeketoni deputy county commissionerJonathan Chepasa who confirmed the accident,the injured included the cyclist and three other pupils from Muhamarani primamry school in Mpeketoni.

Chepasa said the Lorry driver only sustained minor injuries.

The bodaboda cyclist is said to have exceeded the required passenger limit having carried four pupils at a go.

“All the pupils were from Muhamarani primary school and were heading to school at the time.The motorcycle collided with the Lorry at Mkunumbi and we are yet to ascertain why.The seven year old died on the spot.The other four have all been taken to Mpeketoni hospital where they are being attended to,”said Chepasa.
