Mombasa, KENYA: The family of a terror suspect arrested on Friday May 6th on his way to Somalia to allegedly join Alshabaab, has confirmed to Baraka FM of their son’s disappearance.
In an exclusive interview with Baraka FM on Thursday at his home in Mrima area Likoni subcouny,the mother of the suspect Rashid Juma Mwakimako, Ms Mwanamgeni Abdalla, said her 23-year- old son bid her farewell saying he was going for a visit to an unknown destination.
“Nearly two to three weeks now, I was seated inside my room,my son Juma Mwakimako came in and told me Mum I am travelling, I wish you good stay, I din’t ask him more questions,” said a tearfull Mwanamgeni.
“I only realized from the media of his arrest,I was shocked up to now I don’t know what to say,he has been such a good boy,”she added.
Mwanamgeni added that his son stayed alone in a house that was a few metres from her house and on that fateful day she couldn’t tell if he had packed his belongings as he just bid her farewell.
According to her mother,Juma Mwakimako attended his primary education in Mrima primary school and later joined one of the secondary school in Hola,Tanariver.
After completing his high school three years ago, Juma later joined Bethania college in Likoni where he studied computer packages.
“He was hardworking boy, he has been active in attending Madrassa he wouldn’t miss,” added Mwanamgeni.
