Mombasa, KENYA:Security apparatus in mombasa has stepped up surveillance at its areas in the wake of reports that Somali refugees in Kakuma and Dadaab are being ferried to Mombasa after the government announces plans to repatriate them.
According to police earlier reports, the refugees were seeking refuge especiall in ares of Majengo and old town in Mombasa where most of the occupants are Somali origin.
Coast Region Police Commander Francis Wanjohi confirmed to Baraka FM that police had received intelligence report and they were working on it.
“Various security apparatus are working hand in hand,investigations are being worked on.we have not established if they are Somalis of Somalia or are from Kenya,the government is watching closely,”said the police commander.
A police officer who talk to Baraka FM on condition of anonymity,said over 40 police officers in civilian have been dispatched to Majengo areas and another 100 are in old town to investigate the matter.
