Nairobi, KENYA: President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday summoned Cabinet Secretary for Sports Hassan Wario and Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya CEO, Japhter Rugut to shed lights on how the country’s anti-doping body was declared non-compliant by World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

It’s understood the head of state learnt in disbelief WADA’s decision having signed into law the Anti-Doping Bill of 2016 into law on April.

The development comes after WADA’s compliance committee ruled the country “non-compliant” when its board met in Montreal on Thursday, citing issues with anti-doping legislation.

The surprise move means the country is at risk of missing August’s Olympic Games in Rio should International Olympic Committee (IOC) ban Kenyan athletes from the Rio Games or any other competitions.
