Mombasa, KENYA: A Mombasa court sentenced Mary Wanjiru to two years under probation officers, after she pleaded guilty of stealing from a university student.
Wanjiru a 17 year old girl was found guilty of using a stupefying drug to spike a drink of a Mombasa based university student Kevin Nyathenya ,before she stole his property worth over Ksh 100,000.
The accused was later arrested on 20 March at Mariakani area, as she was in a bus heading to Nairobi.
The sentence was given after Mombasa Probation Office indicated that the accused person was an orphan and she stayed with her grandmother upcountry before she came to the city.
They also asked the court to allow the accused person to go through a counseling program which is aimed at changing her character.
Mombasa Chief Magistrate Julias Nang’ea ordered the accused person to be taken through a counseling program for a period of two years and informed the probation officer who was in court to ensure she goes through it.
The two met in a bar within Mombasa in March and after getting to know each other they went to Kevin’s house in Tudor where she stole his property.
