Nairobi, KENYA: Posta Rangers head coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno has bagged the Fidelity Insurance sponsored Sports Journalist Association of Kenya SJAK coach of the Month award for the month of April.
In a vetting and selection done by a panel of SJAK on Tuesday, Zico fended competition from Tusker FC tactician Paul Nkata, Gor Mahia’s Jose Marcelo Z’e Maria and James Omondi of Muhoroni Youth to claim the accolade.
During April, the former Sony Sugar and Gor Mahia head coach steered Posta Rangers to three wins and two draws picking 11 points out of the possible 15 to move third in the standings.
To this effect Zico received a personalized trophy and a cash prize of Ksh 50,000.
He becomes the third coach after Ivan Jacky Minneart of AFC Leopards and Mathare United’s Francis Kimanzi to be feted since the inaugural of the award this year.
