Nairobi,KENYA:Baraka FM once again won in a major competition the recent being the 2016 Annual Journalism Excellence Awards 2016 (AJEA) held in Nairobi on Teusday, courtesy of its two reporters.
Brian Osweta won in the health category, radio, following an inspiring story on tribulations of kidney patients in Mombasa.
“Am grateful for the Baraka Fm family for the mentor ship which led to the winning of this award, I thank God and I really appreciate so much.” Osweta said.
Senior reporter Joseph Jira also scooped an award for best business reporting category radio, after detailing the effects of declining number of ship docking at the Mombasa port.
Other Baraka FM journalists including Albert Mwangeka, Oscar Nyoha and Diana Wanyonyi emerged runners up in their respective categories.
Ruth Kadide of Radio Rahma and Solomon Zully of Radio Salaam, Mombasa were other winners.
The competition attracted 1,000 entries and only 75 qualified for the selection.
AJEA is an initiative by the Media council of Kenya MCK to support journalists in maintaining high media standards in the country.
