Nairobi, KENYA: Ulinzi Stars claimed the 2016 Kenya Premier League U-20 championship following a 3-1 penalty victory over Kakamega Homeboyz in the finals staged at the Nyayo National stadium on Monday.
The junior soldiers had to edge Homeboyz on post-match shootouts after playing out for a 1-1 draw during regulations time.
Ulinzi earned their penalties through Salim Ali, Alex Masinde and Alex Sunga while Homeboyz managed to score only one through Eric Muema.
With the success Ulinzi bagged Ksh 500,000 prize money while Homeboyz cashed Ksh 200,000 as runners up.
On Saturday Mathare United cruised past Gor Mahia 2-1 to take home Ksh 100,000 for coming third.
The tournament which returned after missing out two years on the back saw a total of 16 teams divided into four Pools took part.
