Kenyans join the rest of the world in marking Labour day

Nairobi, KENYA: Kenyans on Sunday gathered at Uhuru Park in Nairobi to join the world in celebrating the 2016 Labour Day.

The celebrations that took place amid the rains was attended by senior government officials and labour unions officials led by Cotu Secretary-General Francis Atwoli.

Cabinet Secretaries Phyllis Kandie (Labour),Adan Mohamed (Industrialisation), Willy Bett (Agriculture), Raychelle Omamo (Defence), Jacob Kaimenyi (Land and Housing), James Macharia (Roads) andDan Kazungu (Mining),graced the ceremony.

Others were CSs Mwangi Kiunjuri, Eugene Wamalwa, Fred Matiang’i and Sicily Kariuki.

Also in attendance, were the Ethiopian ambassador to Kenya Dina Mufti and Beyene Russom of Eritrea.

Speaking during the celebrations, Mr Atwoli thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for spearheading the revival of Pan Paper Mills and called upon the government to improve terms for those working in the countries security agencies.

Here in Mombasa local security guards organised a parade in the city center to mark the celebrations.
