Kwale, KENYA: A recruit in Matuga, Kwale is reported to have allegedly been assaulted  by  prison warders that carried out the countrywide recruitment exercise.

The recruitment that took place on Wednesday at Kwale Baraza park garden, was reported to have begun well in the morning but only to change in a few hours that followed.

According to witnesses the recruit was beaten by the officers who were supervising the recruitment after he was alleged to have abused one of the officers when his name did not appear among the shortlisted recruits.

The deputy warden commission Hassan Said, has however refuted the allegation saying that the boy got angry when his name did not appear among the shortlisted candidates; hence relating the the recruitment with corruption.

“The young man got angry when he was not mentioned among the shortlisted candidates, he saw people standing here and thought they were people who had come to give bribes,”  he said.
