Kwale, KENYA: A 22-year old man was on Wednesday killed by a mob after being accused of allegedly stealing a chicken in Tiwi village, Kwale county.
The man named Salim Athman was beaten to death by angry villagers after a resident shouted that thieves had invaded their house.
Matuga OCPD Patrick Oduma says the deceased was with two other accomplices who managed to escape.
“The villagers shouted, their fellows availed themselves for rescue and the the boy was caught by the angry mob beaten to death, his two counterparts managed to escape,” Oduma said.
Tiwi residents have previously been complaining of theft cases involving their domestic animals by anonymous people.
Oduma gave a stun warning to the resident against taking the laws into their hands saying that the law won’t spare them.
“I want to give a stun warning to people who take the laws into their hands that the law shall note spare them when cought,” the OCPD concluded.
