Kenya Prisons Quarter finals hopes in Limbo after Egypt’s Elshams defeat

Tunis,TUNISIA: Kenya’s representatives at the ongoing African Club Volleyball Championship Kenya Prison’s quarter final hopes now hangs in the balance, after they lost 3-1 to Egyptian outfit El Shams.

Prisons coached by national women’s head coach David Lung’aho went to the clash knowing victory could have seen them a book a knock out slot, but failed to surge on with El Sham dominating the exchange.

Their wanting reception, attacking and blocking saw the Egyptians claim the opening two sets 25-18 and 25-11 at the ongoing games in Tunis.

They however regrouped to bag the third set 19-25 before El Sham capitalize on their mistakes to win 25-22 in the deciding set.

The win saw El Shams cement lead in group D on nine points while Prisons, who are three points behind, must beat Ndelle from Gabon by straight sets in their last group match to progress to quarters.

Meanwhile, championship record winners Kenya Peline will take on FAP from Cameroon in their final Group match on Wednesday hoping to a complete a 100 percent winning record.

The Kenyan champions are already through to quarter finals having registered victory in all her matches this far.
