Lamu, KENYA: Lamu county governor Issa Timamy has defended County lands executive Amina Rashid following an impeachment motion against her.
The impeachment motion which was tabled by the Majority leader and Hindi ward MCA Abdu Kassim and adopted by the County Assembly on Thursday last week, is seeking to impeach Rashid on grounds of graft and incompetence.
Speaking in Lamu on Sunday,Timamy said he saw no logic in the claims being presented as reason for the impeachment of the minister and that there was need for clarity.
He said the executive was hardworking and diligent having worked selflessly to ensure the land rights of the Lamu people are protected and that the mover of such a motion harbored personal ill intentions against the executive.
“This whole thing is politically motivated. This is nothing more than people just wanting to frustrate my administration. The executive isn’t going anywhere because she isn’t guilty,” said Timamy.
He said those who want the executive impeached have their own motives for doing so and asked them to come clean to the public about it.
Timamy said some individuals were not comfortable with the astute nature with Rashid was handling land issues hence wanted to bring her down.
“Those who want her out have their own reasons for that.Let them be true and tell the Lamu people why they really want to impeach the executive,”said Timamy.
