Security beefed up in Mombasa after terror alert confirmed

Mombasa, KENYA: Security has been beefed up in major buildings in Mombasa County and Tana River following intelligence reports that Alshabaab militants are planning to stage massive attacks.

According to a confidential report seen by Baraka FM,the terrorists are targeting two vital buildings and public places in Mombasa alone especially this rainy season.

The report indicates that the planned attacks are to be staged between  April and June.

“The terrorists are planning massive attacks in  in Mombasa and Garsen town.they are going to use vehicle borne improvised explosives devices (VBIED),” reads part of the report.

On Friday Regional police Commander Francis Wanjohi held an internal meeting with his security chiefs at police headquarters.

A source within the police confirmed to Baraka FM that the meeting was to discuss way forward on how to beef up security following the NIS report.
