Nairobi, KENYA: Majority leader Aden Duale has sharply criticized opposition chief Raila Odinga over remarks he made while in Europe, faulting ICC for failing to convict 2007/2008 post election violence suspects .
In a media briefing at parliamentary buildings on Thursday Duale said that Raila was the one who masterminded ICC process for his political gains.
“It is a common knowledge that Raila and ODM invited ICC to arbitrate a domestic political competition .They went to the extent of barring the UN ,which wanted to refer the cases to be settled in Kenya.”Duale said
Speaking to AFP in France Mr Odinga said that ICC allowed itself to be blackmailed by Kenya through the African Union to drop the two cases.
He added that dropping of the cases spelled “doom” for global efforts to fight impunity.
Duale said that Odinga wanted to use ICC process to clinch into power in the 2013 general elections .
He termed Raila as insincere after sending a congratulatory message to Deputy President William Ruto and Joshua Arap Sang moments after they were discharged from ICC process.
