Mombasa, KENYA: The Mombasa County Assembly has adopted a report which aims to transform the region and position it as a business and investment hub.
The report,Integrated Strategic Urban Development Plan 2035 commonly referred as ISUD-2035, was presented in the house on Tuesday by the Physical Planning, Lands and Housing committee.
Earlier the house failed to discuss it due to lack of quorum.
Acting Speaker Mswabah Rashid directed the committee on Physical Planning, Lands and Housing, to table it on Wednesday.
The Committee was tasked to research on the necessity of the project in the county, and come up with its objectives, findings and recommendations.
In the report, the committee says it held consultative forums with all the stake holders involved in the project and find its necessary for the county as it will rejuvenate the city into world class well planned urban City.
It further recommends that the project to be initiated as it will make Mombasa economic vibrant and investment hub.
Mombasa governor Hassan Ali Joho on Saturday, unveiled the county’s dream city in a Sh33 billion blueprint; the Integrated Strategic urban Development Plan-2035.
Joho said funds for the project will be raised through strategic partnerships and alliance with development partners, financiers, venture capitalists and Public Private Partnership.
He said that the county’s Vision 2035 would transform the region and position it as a business and investment hub.
