Nairobi, KENYA: The National women’s soccer team Harambee Starlets will take to pitch on Tuesday to battle Algeria knowing only 90 minutes stand between them and their maiden Africa Nations Cup slot.
A barren draw or a 1-1 stalemate will see Starlets through having claimed two crucial away goals in their two all draw with Algeria in the first leg of the qualifiers last weekend.
However, speaking ahead of the clash scheduled for the Nyayo National stadium starting 1500hrs local time, head coach David Ouma oozed of confidence his charges will not relent but go for victory.
Ouma who also doubles up as Sofapaka tactician hinted they will all be out to make statement of intent by stunning the visitors and become the first ever Kenya’s women’s team to qualify for the championship.
Kenya reached this penultimate stage after the withdrawal of the Democratic Republic of Congo while Algeria overcame Egypt in a two legged duel.
This year’s tournament will be held in Cameroon between 19 November and 3 December.
