Nairobi, KENYA: Kenya Women soccer team Harambee Starlets have done what proved impossible for their male counterparts by qualifying for the first ever-African Women Cup of Nations.
This is after playing to a 1-1 with the Algerian Fennecs at Moi Kasarani on Tuesday.
Harambee starlets were one goal down but Cheris Avilia scored to see Kenya through.
The team qualified on away goal rule after their first 2-2 draw in Algiers.
The maiden AFCON cup will be played in Cameroon in November.
However, for their male counterparts-Harambee stars, the last time they qualified for the Africa Cup on Nations was in 2004 under coach Ghost Mulee.
