Mombasa, KENYA: Four men were on Friday arraigned before Mombasa Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi for allegedly defiling and infecting a 10-yr-old girl with HIV/AIDS.
The accused Isaac Musembi, Komu Muthini, Onesmus Mbuvi and Mutingo Kimeu who are said to have commited the offence in Moroto slums, were arraigned on a charge of defilement contrary to sexual offence act.
In an affidavit presented to court, the investigative officer Ms Joyce Okemo requested for the suspects not to be released on bail and asked for one week to prepare a doctor’s report and a P3 Form.
“Releasing the suspects on bail will be putting their life in danger as they were escorted to Makupa police station by angry mob who may take law in their hands and they may also escape from jurisdiction,” she said.
Ms Okemo told the court the four suspects will also be taken to Coast General Hospital to get tested for HIV.
The four suspects, with one said to be related to the minor, are said to have used different ways to persuade the girl.
Police say during the interrogation the girl identified four names of the suspects who bought sweets, gave money to her and even subjected her to pornographic movies before defiling her between September last year and April 2016.
Mutingo Kimeu one of the accused, is alleged to be caught defiling the girl in a house and escaped when a neighbour alarmed the public in December.
The mother of the girl who is reported to sales ‘mnazi’ at the slums, informed the police her child is in class four.
The suspects will appear before the court on Thursday 14th April 2016 to take plea.
