Mombasa, KENYA: Police in Likoni are investigating the murder of a 65-year-old man in Dongo kundu area whose body was found on Wednesday around 9:30 am in his farm by a village elder.

According to police,the deceased Reuben Mwangoji who was a well known farmer; had deep cuts in various parts of the body and there was a rope around his neck an indication that he was strangled to death.

Likoni DCIO  boss David Siele who lead the investigation told Baraka FM the area around his bedroom was dug all over by the assailants and kitchen utensils were thrown all over the house.

“The deceased is a popular farmer in the area,and he was living alone.We have gathered some information and we suspect the killers were after the money,” said Mr Siele.

The suspected killers are alleged to have moved  and hid the deceased’s body  in the farm, 150 m from the homestead.

Meanwhile police from special crime unit on Thursday visited the area of shonda in Likoni where a 20-year-old man was allegedly shot by police.

When contacted for a comment on the shooting, Likoni Deputy OCPD Anthony Shimoli refuted the claims saying the man injured himself as he was running from the police.
