London, ENGLAND: Luis Suarez struck twice for Barcelona in a 2-1 home win against 10-man Atlético Madrid in their Champions League quarter-final first leg played on Tuesday.
Fernando Torres had opened the scoring 25 minute into the match but 10 minutes later he was dismissed for a second booking.
The defeat is Atletico’s seventh successive at the hands of Barcelona, who came to the match on the back of a 2-1 home defeat to Real Madrid in El Clasico last weekend.
Elsewhere, Arturo Vidal’s goal proved the difference as hosts Bayern Munich cruise past Benfica 1-0.
Wednesday fixtures will see Paris Saint Germain take on Manchester City while Wolfsburg play host to Real Madrid.
