Lamu, KENYA: Lamu Senator Abu Chiaba has accused Lamu Governor Issa Timamy of running the devolved administration as a lone ranger.

Speaking on Wednesday,Chiaba said Timamy does not involve him as the senator in any matters concerning the running of matters in the county.

He said the governor had failed to develop the county despite the huge chunks of money allocated to the county annually.

“Residents of Lamu County are crying day and night over perennial water shortages and lack of early education centers (ECDS) but governor Timmamy has decided to look the other way,”said Chiaba.

He said Timamy was a power hungry individual who had chosen to misuse the devolved system of governance for his own personal benefit.

He wondered why there was no piped water in the entire lamu East sub county while local hospitals were reeling under severe drug shortages when the county had received billions of shillings from treasury.

“Governor Timmamy should account for all the billions given to his government and shed his political arrogance,’ said Chiaba.

Earlier in the week,Timamy had called on his political rivals to give him ample time to serve his people.

Critics have however accused Senator Chiaba of deliberately frustrating the governor’s administration yet he rarely sets foot in the county even in his capacity as senator.
