Mombasa, KENYA: The County Government of Mombasa is set to official revive all the smoking zones in the County.

In a report presented in the County Assembly on Thursday by the chairperson of the committee on Water, Environment and Natural resources, Zainab Omar Mumba, mandated the ministry incharge to name and approve all the smoking zones in the county for them to be officially gazetted.

The house debated on the same and made recommendations on the report, and the speaker of the day Fadhili Mwalimu ordered the report to be taken back to the ministry for changes before it’s approved by the parliament.

Some of the areas that the report suggests  as smoking zones include Treasury square, Makadara grounds, Mama Ngina, Uhuru Gardens, Jomo Kenyatta Public Beach, Buxton Stage, among others.

The MCAs also proposed areas like Changamwe, Makupa  and Railway roundabouts as the new additional places where the new proposed smoking zones should be created.
