Kwale, KENYA: Police in Lungalunga, Kwale have put into custody 13 aliens ( Ethiopian nationals) who were sneaking out of the country to Tanzania through the Indian ocean waters at Majoreni.

According to the police, the aliens are said to have illegally sneaked out as they did not possess any document for their stay in either Kenya or Tanzania.

Members of the public tipped of border patrol unit officers who pounced on them before they boarded boats.

Confirming the arrests, Msambweni officer commanding police division (OCPD) Joseph Omijah on Friday said the aliens were hiding in the bushes.

“We received information from members of the public of some people having been sighted within Majoreni area who were not known and whose mission was not clear. Police led by border patrol team rushed to scene and upon arrival they arrested 13 Ethiopians,” he said.

He said that the aliens seemed to have stayed there for a long time since they looked tired and weak.

After they were arrested, they were taken to Shimoni police station before being taken to Diani police station.

Omijah said that they will be charged with being in Kenya illegally and trying to leave the country via an unauthorized route.
