Security beefed up at public institution’s in Mombasa following terror threat

Mombasa, KENYA: The government has beefed up security at the major learning institutions at the so as  Coast to ensure safety of the students.

A senior police officer who spoke to Baraka FM and requested to remain anonymous said that fears of learning institutions being targeted in terrorists attacks, had prompted security organs to increase the number of security officers manning the institutions day and night.

There were intelligence report that the terrorists were targeting this institutions and action need to be taken, added the officer.

He said that institutions that held students from upcountry were likely to fall targets of the militia group attacks hence the need to increase the security.

Among the institutions whose security had been increased are Technical university of Mombasa,(TUM)and Kenya medical training institute.

For instance the officers at Technical university college have been increased from 5 officers drawn from Kenya prison to 15.

“The number of police officers in all major institutions within the country has been increased and we have twenty police officers, manning the various institutions day and night this way we ensure the safety of our students in case of an attack “He Said.
