Mombasa, KENYA: The three suspected robbers gunned down by police in Kisauni Tuesday night have been identified as the most wanted robbers who are linked to various robberies in Mombasa county.
The trio Brian Etiang,Hemed Okai and the third one only identified as Wale were out of bond before they met their death,police have said.
The fingerprints of the suspects were sent to Nairobi for further analysis to identify their nationality as there were reports that the three were Somali.
Kisauni police boss Richard Ngatia,Thursday confirmed to Baraka FM that the trio are Kenyans this was after they received results from Nairobi.
The police chief noted that the suspects were out of bond as they are facing various cases of robbery with violence.
He said police records showed that the suspects have carried out robberies in Likoni,Changamwe Kisauni and Mombasa town and they have been escaping police dragnet.
“The suspects have been on police watch for a long time,we had information also they were out of bond due to various robberies with violence.we can now confirm this after we forwarded their fingerprints to our colleques in Nairobi,”said Mr. Ngatia.
He said the suspects were using a Toyota corolla KBV 590G which they have hired to carry out robberies.
The police chief warned the car hire dealers to be extra cautious when hiring out their vehicles to their customers saying most people hire cars for ill motive.
