KIGALI, RWANDA: Two days of rest and the ongoing Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) gets into quarter finals this Saturday in Rwanda after the exit of CECAFA senior challenge cup champions Uganda Cranes on Wednesday evening.
This leaves Rwanda as the only East African representative as Uganda was eliminated after playing to a one all draw with Zimbabwe to finish third in group D with two points.
With Zambia and Mali sharing the spoils on a 0-0 stalemate and Zimbabwe salvaging a point, Chipolopolo and Mali cruised to the quarters having picked five and seven points respectively.
Hosts Rwanda takes on DR Congo in the quarter finals set for Saturday while Cameroon will lock horns with Ivory Coast.
On Sunday Tunisia will battle out Mali before Zambia come up against Guinea.
The African championship is in its fourth edition and Libya failed to make it to Rwanda to defend the title.
Kenya will host the next CHAN edition in 2018.
