Opposition leader Raila Odinga may not appear soon before parliamentary accounts committee,PAC to shed light on 140 billion Eurobond Saga.
Raila was scheduled to appear before the committee on Monday next week but PAC chair Nicholas Gumbo said parliament received a letter indicating that Raila will not appear before the committee .
Addressing press at Parliament Building, Gumbo said the matter is before auditor general where auditing of alleged misappropriation of 140 billion as alleged by Odinga is being undertake.
“He has written to the National Assembly Clerk saying he will wait for a special audit of the 2014/15 financial year that addresses the Eurobond issue.”Gumbo said
Gumbo added that Raila indicated in the letter that it will be inappropriate to appear before the committee yet the matter is before the auditor general’s office saying that he will appear when auditing process will be completed.
He dispelled a notion that odinga was summoned to appear before his committee next week insisting that Odinga was to appear voluntarily.
However, kieni legislator Kanini Kega was quick to blast Raila on his decision saying he is taking parliament for a ride.
Kega insisted that Raila ought to appear before the committee because in the first place he said he had facts on the alleged scam and his decline is a sign that he was playing politics with Eurobond saga.
