KPA to modernize cruise ship passengers terminal at Mombasa Port

The Kenya Ports Authority has set aside ksh 100 Million to renovate and modernize its cruise ship passengers terminal, at the port of Mombasa.

Speaking Wednesday when receiving the eighth cruise ship to dock at the Mombasa port earlier this week, KPA principal communication officer Hajji Masemo, confirmed that the sketching has already been done and the project is scheduled to start early March.

“The management has decided to renovate this terminal and modernize it, earlier we did sketching of the building where all clearing process will be done in the building”, said Hajji.

The building will have modern luggage handling equipments, a café, refreshing rooms and modern resting areas.
“The building will have a modern café, modern luggage handling equipments and other refreshing area just like how it is in an airport,” added Hajji.

Mr. Hajji added that they will soon advertise for a contractor to do the job.

The ship “Silver Cloud” arrived at the port carrying 61 tourists from US, 42 from UK, Switzerland 9, Sweden 7, South Africa 3 and 3 from Russia.
