Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula Tuesday survived the challenge of being removed from the voter register over bribery claims.
This follows a ruling in his favor by the Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission IEBC on Tuesday.
The IEBC’s five member committee led by Commissioner Thomas Letangule said removal of Wetangula’s names from the voter register would be unlawful and unjustifiable.
“Removal of the Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula from voter registration is not lawful and justifiable” The committee said in its ruling.
The Letangule led Committee was instituted to look into bribery allegations raised against the Bungoma Senator and make a final decision on whether his name should be expunged from the voters register or not.
The Committee comprises also of commissioner Lilian Mahiri-Zaja (member), Mohamed Alawi (member), Crispin Owiye (secretary) and Moses Kipkogei acting as the assisting Counsel.
Senator Wetangula was accompanied by CORD politicians led by Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka who sat with him in solidarity throughout the ruling at the Milimani law courts.
Wetangula later thanked members of the committee for delivering a fair ruling, and his CORD co-principles for standing with him during the trying times.
