4 bodies of KDF soldiers killed during Al-shaab attack in Somalia arrived Monday night at Wilson Airport on board a Kenya Defence Forces military plane.
This come as KDF forces intensify operations to rescue other soldiers believed to have been held hostage after the the Friday attack by Al-Shaabab militants in Somalia.
The bodies were received at the airport by Defence Cabinet Secretary Rachel Omamo and the Chief of Defence Forces Samson Mwathethe.
The bodies arrived few hours after the second lot of 16 Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers rescued from the battlefield in Somalia arrived in Nairobi on Monday.
This first lot of four soldiers were airlifted from Somalia on Sunday.
“This is another group of heroes and though they have no physical injuries, they are exhausted because of the ordeal they went through. They are not injured, they are just traumatised,” Omamo told journalists at the airport.
Reports say search and rescue operation is still ongoing at the Al Adde area of Gedo region in Somalia where the KDF forces had pitched tent before they were attacked on early Friday .
