Police in Likoni have launched investigations following murder of a bodaboda rider by unknown thugs who stole also his motorcycle.
The body of the deceased identified as Clement Muiruri,30,was found Monday morning at the side of the road in Timbwani,Likoni with his head and neck bearing deep cuts.
According to his fellow bodaboda riders, the deceased had been operating overnight from 9pm to 6am in the morning.
His wallet with unknown amount of money was intact in his pocket.
Bodaboda riders told Baraka FM that cases of murder against riders were on the rise.
Last year over six cases was reported alone in likoni.
Abdala Salim one of the bodaboda operator claimed that over 20 motorcycle have been stolen and their owners killed while others are nursing injuries after escaping from the hands of suspected killers.
“We want police to intervene fully and bring the culprits to book,this is a very serious case but it seems police are reluctant”said Salim
Likoni police boss Willy Simba confirmed the incident to Baraka fm terming it as an alarming case.
He call on the County Assembly Members to enact a law which will allow only bodaboda operators to operate till 10 pm.
“This is a scaring incident,the man was brutally killed,his body badly mutilated.we have launch investigations and we are optimistic we will get to the bottom of the matter”said Mr. Simba
The body of the deceased was later moved to Coast general hospital morgue.
