Cameroonian striker Guy Madjo has been jailed for three and a half years by a UK court in his absence, for sexually assaulting a woman at his home on his sofa.
The 31-year-old striker who has played for different football teams in the UK is said to have invited the 27-year-old woman to sleep on his sofa at his home in Grayshott, Hampshire, after she was locked out of her flat.
Prosecutor Rebecca Austin told the court that the victim had been drinking in her local pub on the previous evening and returned to her flat to find she had been locked out by her partner.
She got her hand stuck in the letterbox and called police for help, but while she was on the phone Madjo – who was her neighbour- helped her remove her hand and offered to help her.
Miss Austin added that the woman, who described herself as “tipsy”, fell asleep on the sofa but awoke to find herself being assaulted by the defendant prompting her to leave.
The woman then adds that married Madjo whose wife was also asleep in the house, began following her and she decided to call the police.
A warrant for his arrest was issued by the court in May last year but a decision to go ahead with the trial was taken when he failed to return to the country.
The former Cameroon under-23 national team player denied the claims that he had sexually assaulted the lady in question and is said to have not attended the trial.
