The Council of Imams and Preachers CIPK Mombasa Branch on Tuesday cautioned politicians over politicizing the President’s issuance of title deeds to squatters living at the Waitiki land over the weekend in Likoni ,Mombasa.
The council instead advised politicians to join the president in solving the controversial Waitiki land issue.
Addressing press in their offices, CIPK secretary general Sheikh Mohamed Khalifa, said the Jubilee administration has showed passion in solving land issues peaceful in the country.
“We congratulate President Uhuru Kenyatta for solving the Waitiki land issue peaceful. The problem has been there since 1997 and the previous governments failed to solve it, so the Jubilee administration deserves to be congratulated,” said Sheikh Khalifa.
Sheikh Khalifa however urged those who got the tittles, to comply with the government’s call of paying one thousands per month for twelve years, saying it’s fair enough.
“I urge those who got the titles to comply by paying the money which is fair enough, and ignore politicians who like politicizing everything,” added the Sheikh.
CIPK National Chairman Sheikh Abdala Ateka also urged the President to use the same way in solving all land issues in the country.
“Let the President use the same ‘Waitiki land method’ in solving land issues in other areas in the country,” said Sheikh Abdalla Ateka.
