Machakos County Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has asked the opposition to focus more on developing the country instead of criticizing the government.
Speaking on Wednesday during the unveiling of the Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement offices at Changamwe in Mombasa, Dr. Mutua said most of the opposition members are capable of bringing development.
“Most of the opposition have been in the government before, they should not travel abroad just to get money for campaigns but also use the money for development,” Said Dr.Mutua
He further added that in a third world country like Kenya, being in opposition does not only mean criticizing the government but also participating in developmental issues.
Dr.Mutua said he is still a Wiper party member and will only leave, if the party kicks him out .
“When the time comes if the citizens want me to form a party, I will go for it; why do they panic when they hear I want to form a party yet there are so many parties in Ukambani?” added Dr.Mutua.
Tip Tip party Leader Kalembe Ndile who was present at the ceremony supported the Machakos Governor saying that Dr Mutua has a right to work with the National government.
“We must keep Mutua on the forefront so that If Uhuru agrees come 2022 elections, Mutua will be Ruto’s deputy,” said the former Kibwezi Mp.
The launch of Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement by the Machakos governor has been viewed by some of the Wiper party members as disloyalty to the party, since Wiper brought him to power.
Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua pitched camps at the Coast since Thursday to sale his Maendeleo Chap Chap movement agenda.
On Friday, Mutua opened the movements Coast coordinating office in Mombasa at Changamwe.
Dr Mutua had earlier opened the movement’s office in Taita Taveta and held public rallies in Njia and Taveta towns.
In Taita Taveta, Governor Mutua said there was need to change the style of doing politics in the country if development is to be accelerated.
“Our roads take up to seven years to build while in developed countries a similar road takes only a year,” said Mutua.
He reiterated that development delayed is an abuse of the people’s human rights.
The Governor launched the Movement last week in his Machakos County where he promised to take it to all parts of the county.
