Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho and Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi alias Sonko clashed in public on Saturday as President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto watched.
The two who are known to be political enemies clashed during a public event held to issue title deeds to squatters of the Waitiki land at Shika Adabu ground in Likoni ,Mombasa.
The Nairobi Senator who was welcomed to speak by Joho during the rally claimed that Joho and his ODM party were blackmailing the President and his Jubilee government in order to win public sympathies.
Sonko at one point threatened to expose Joho and blamed ODM of using corruption and Land problems to blackmail the Jubilee government.
“I appreciate him for recognizing the senate, but they must respect wakubwa wangu, nitawatusi kwa sababu mimi najulikana kwa matusi” said Sonko in a high tone.
Sonko had to invite his colleagues who accompanied him from Nairobi including the Nairobi County Women Rep Rachel Shebesh.after Joho gave him the Microphone.
The incident took the President and his deputy who were kept guessing and sometimes enjoying the clash of the “Titanic” ignored politics in their speech and instead asked Joho to reconsider his political stand.
“I agree we talked with the Governor and I remember telling him when we were together that where he is was not the right place to be , I knew they were heading no where. waswahili husema asiyekubali kurekebishwa huwa ni mpumbavu , na the Governor sio mpumbavu.” Ruto said during the event in Likoni.
