Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia has appointed Mr Bakari Hamisi Gowa as Acting Managing Director of the Kenya Ferry Service (KFS).
The current KFS Finance Manager replaces Hassan Musa who was sent on terminal leave on Wednesday .
The CS acted on a recommendation reached during the Kenya Ferry Services Board meeting held early Wednesday .
In a letter signed by the Board chairman Mshenga Ruga, the board recommended the replacement of Mr Musa Hassan to pave way for further investigations into numerous problems facing the public corporation.
Other top officials sent packing by the Kenya ferry services board was the corporation’s Chief Engineer Amos Nyadero.
Mr Musa’s sacking cames few days after President Uhuru Kenyatta made a surprise tour at the Kenya Ferry services headquarters based in Likoni where he used one of the ferries to cross the channel from the Island.
A number of leaders including Mombasa County Commissioner Nelson Marwa has been advocating for Hassan Mussa’s sacking accusing him of incompetency.
Pwani ni Kenya officials led by chairman Alex Kasuku had also appealed for the sacking of Mr Musa following public outcry over power management of the corporation.
