President Uhuru Kenyatta held a meeting with Lamu leaders on Tuesday at Statehouse Mombasa where he assured them of his government’s support in improving development and security in the entire county.
The leaders were led to the Statehouse by Lamu Governor Issa Timamy.
During the meeting , President Uhuru directed the Ministry of finance to release ksh.100 allocated by National government for the construction of a level five public hospital in Lamu county.
He said the money was part of funds his government sourced from China to promote infrastructural development in the Country.
The President however, urged the leaders to work together with government in enhancing security in the county saying that the few who are perpetuating crime will be dealt with accordingly.
“Only the few are involved in criminal activities and I believe majority of us who are peace makers and law abiding citizens will continue to support government in fighting crime and ensuring security among our people” President said
He also assured Lamu residents that his government will re embark on issuance of title deeds to squatters in seven villages in the country while the remaining villages will be issued with the documents by end of the year.
