Harambee Stars broken hearts after 3-1 thrashing by Zanzibar in the on-going CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in Ethiopia have now been repaired, thanks to Uganda Crane’s 1-0 victory over threatening Burundi national side.
Harambee Stars have now made it to the quarter finals of the regional tournament on superior goal difference over Burundi after both teams finished on level four points in group B.
Uganda Cranes, earlier beaten by Kenya 2-0 in their opener now tops the group with six points and were joined by Kenya for the last eight.
Harambee Stars takes on Rwanda in the quarters set for November 30 and December 1 in Addis Ababa.
Stars, who are the defending champions had not lost to Zanzibar since 1980.
Head coach Bobby Williamson will have to be extra careful as they take on Rwanda, avoiding the mistakes he made ahead of their Zanzibar match when he made seven changes only to lose pathetically.
