Skipper, Andrew Amonde will not feature for Shujaa in the season’s opener after missing out in the squad that will be travelling for the HSBC World Sevens Rugby Series in Dubai on the weekend of December 4th.

Head coach Benjamini Ayimba, while releasing the squad on Friday, confirmed Amonde will not be part of the team as he is bereaved while Dennis Ombachi who secured Kenya’s Olympic qualification with a last gasp try against Zimbabwe is unavailable as he graduates from college.

Robert Aringo (Impala RFC), Nelson Oyoo (Nakuru RFC), Jaffrey Oluoch (Homeboyz) and Frank Wanyama (Kenya Harlequin) are the new entrants to the side that also include comebacks Willy Ambaka and Oscar Ouma.

Kenya is pooled in a tricky group D alongside giants Australia, England and Wales, but Ayimba is upbeat his charges will make it through to the Main Cup quarters.

Collins Injera (Captain), Biko Adema, Willy Ambaka, Oscar Ouma, Billy Odhiambo, Leonard Mugaisi, Augustine Lugonzo, Bush Mwale, Frank Wanyama, Jeff Oluoch, Robert Aringo, Nelson Oyoo.

Meanwhile, Kenya Lioness head coach Mike Shamiah also named his squad for Dubai International Invitation tournament.

Lioness, are in pool C against Colombia, Great Britain Select and Japan.
