The middle aged man suspected to have robed and murdered a police officer early this year at Old Town in Mombasa was on Wednesday charged in court.
Mr Abdallah Mwinyi, with others absent in court, is alleged to have robed Police Constable Mohamed Ibrahim’s Ceska pistol and shot him to dead during the incidence, at Kuze while masquerading in ‘Buibui.’
He, however, denied the robbery with violence charge before Mombasa Principal Magistrate Diana Mochache, an offense he is alleged to have been committed on March 25.
The court heard that, the accused with his colleagues were armed with a rifle when they robed pistol from the police officer, that contained 15 rounds of ammunition all valued at Sh45,675.
He denied the charge and asked to be released on bond.
However, court prosecutor, Chief Inspector Said Mwadzombo requested court to remand the accused “to enable the investigation officer file an affidavit to oppose his release on bond.”
The magistrate ordered he be remanded at Shimo la Tewa prison until Monday next week when he will apply for bond.
