Gitau names squad for RIO 2016 Olympic games

Newly appointed National men’s volleyball team head coach Paul Gitau has named a provisional 22 man squad ahead of the 2016 Rio Olympic Zonal qualifiers.

However, in his selection, Gitua who won gold medal with junior women’s team in Congo Brazzaville – All Africa Games early this year
has shown faith in young lads while axing experienced players from the team.

Among those overlooked  include captain Philip Maiyo who ply his trade with Qatari champions Al Rayyan Sports club, his deputy Elisha Awila of Kenya Defence Force and Mike Chemos who just signed a deal with a Finnish side.
