Former Nairobi Mayor arrested over hate speech

George Aladwa was arrested early Friday by a team of police officers from the Flying Squad and taken to Kilimani Police Station in Nairobi .

The arrest of the  Nairobi ODM Chairman came  just a day after the Director of Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko wrote a letter to the CID Director Ndegwa Muhoro directing him to summon the former Mayor immediately for interrogations over alleged hate speech.

Aladwa who unsuccessfully ran for the Makadara Parliamentary seat in Nairobi in 2013 ,was alleged to have said that for Cord Leader Raila Odinga to be President people may have to lose their lives adding that 2017 general elections will be  Mr. Odinga’s last chance in his bid to be the President of Kenya.

ODM leader Raila Odinga was among the first top ranking luminaries to arrive at the Kilimani Police Station where Mr.Aladwa was being held.

 Odinga arrived accompanied by veteran lawyer John Khaminwa who will be in charge of the case.
He was later joined by a contigent of Aladwa supporters who claimed that justice was being applied impartially demanding that Moses Kuria of Jubilee also be handled the way the Nairobi County ODM Chairman was handled.
Others who were at the station included Siaya Senator James Orengo,Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo among others .
