Kilifi County Governor Amason Jefwa Kingi has suspended his two chief officers over incompetency.

Emmanuel Katana of Devolution and public service management in the office of the governor and Joseph Waema of Energy planning and development management were sent packing on Monday following public outcry over shoddy jobs and ghost projects.

Governor Kingi announced the sacking on Wednesday saying he took action following outcry from the community.

“These two officers have been suspended on incompetency at work on their former department before reshuffle,” Governor Kingi said.

“As we all know, Emmanuel Katana did a mess in the department of Education and Joshua Waema messed in the department of Roads and Public works, something that sparked their reshuffle.”

He said his government will early next week swear in a tribunal to investigate all county officers following reports of incomplete and shoddy works on projects all over the county.

“I have even been given reports of complete projects only to find out it’s the opposite,” Kingi said.

“I have seen projects like model ECD schools and Roads in Adu ward in Magarini which are indicated to be complete in books but physically incomplete.”

“ I want to tell my officers that honey moon is over and it’s high time that every county government officer to be liable for his/her work.”

Last week the governor started a seventy days tour of all projects all over the county beginning with Magarini sub-county, North of Kilifi County.

His tour is aimed at scrutinizing all projects funded by the county and also evaluating the quality of the projects.
