Kenya Premier League Top 8 champions Tusker FC on Saturday premier held champions Gor Mahia with a 2-2 draw in the first leg of the knock-out competition played at the Afraha Stadium on the outskirts of Nakuru town.
Gor Mahia went into the break on a 2-0 lead thanks to a stunner from Ali Abondo and a Meddie Kagere penalty, but let slip the lead to settle for a two draw against Tusker side whose head coach Francis Kimanzi stepped aside this week.
Skipper Jesse Were halved the deficit for the Brewers eight minutes into the second half before Eugine Asike drew level in the dying minutes after Gor Mahia defenders failed to clear their lines.
With the results, Tusker keeps their good run against Gor Mahia in the competition having beaten them on two legs in the semis in the last two editions.
Earlier, Sofapaka rallied from two goals down to share the spoils with Sony Sugar on the same margin to set a mouth watering return leg.
The aggregate winner between the two pairs will meet in the finals with the winner taking home Sh 1 million.
