Four suspected gunmen raided Bandari Tuskys Supermarket in Mombasa Thursday night before escaping with Sh 2 million, police said.
The four who were armed with pistols allegedly forced their way into the supermarket and fired four times on air before bouncing on the cashier.
According to police, two men reportedly ordered the cashier to lead them to where the money was while the other two were manning the premises.
A senior police officer who, responded to the distress after being alerted, told Baraka FM the gunmen escaped on foot but on arriving near Belavista along Moi Avenue, they hijacked a Subaru car parked outside.
The suspects later abandoned the hijacked car at treasury square near deputy county commissioner’s office and disappeared towards Kizingo.
Meanwhile, police are investigating the Thursday night incident where a private security firm director was shot by unknown gunmen near Mombasa polytechnic.
The security firm officer was shot five times before the suspected gunmen disappeared.
