A total of 37,370 candidates are set to sit for this year’s KCSE and KCPE exams respectively in the County.
Among them 10,479 students will sit for KCSE exams starting 15th of this month (October) while the other 26,891 pupils for KCPE exams in November.
Statistics released by the county director of education Dicskon Ole Keis revealed that among the 10,479 KCSE candidates, 216 registered as private candidates in various exams centers in the county.
“Kilifi Sub County registered a total of 2,745 candidates among them 1,683 boys and 1,062 girls. Kaloleni has a total of 1,767 candidates sitting. Among them 911 boys and 856 girls.Malindi Sub County has a total of 2,612 candidates with 1,539 boys and 1,073 girls. Magarini has a total of 1,041 candidates with 665 boys and 376 girls,” stated Ole Keis.
“Rabai has a total of 1,315 candidates with 715 boys and 600 girls and Ganze Sub County has a total of 999 candidates with 641 boys and 358 girls,” he added.
Kilifi sub county has a total of 34 private students amongst them 11 girls and 23 boys whereas Malindi sub county has a total of 93 private candidates.
Kaloleni has a total of 97 candidates with Ganze registering a total of 22 candidates.
Rabai and Magarini Sub County did not register private candidates in this year’s national examinations.
Mr Keis added that all preparations for the official beginning of the exams have been finalized and that all mechanisms are in place to ensure no hitch is experienced.
“We have engaged all stakeholders including police officers who will boost security. We have asked for assistance from the county commissioner s office to be assisted with logistics which include availing vehicles which will carry papers from the distribution centers to different exams centers around the county,” he said.
