Police in Mombasa are holding a middle aged women suspected to be behind illegal brew business in Likoni.
The officers raided the woman’s Changaa den and impounded 750 litres of kangara and 135 litres of Changaa brew at a slum commonly known by area residents as Grandi.
Mombasa deputy County Commissioner Ms Rose Chege who led the operation told Baraka FM the suspected woman has severally ben arrested but when released she goes back to the same business.
She said the police acted on a tipoff, and managed to impound the illegal brew.
The suspected brewer is said to have been supplying the entire parts of Likoni with the illegal brew.
“This is a breakthrough to us and the entire security agents, we made it today and we are not going to stop, we are warning those who escaped our dragnets that their days are numbered,” said Ms Chege.
The suspect will be arraigned in court as soon as police complete their investigations.
